SWEET

You all seemed to like the cream whip rings in my previous post a lot, so here's some more sweetness for all you sweet theeth out there:

I've stumbled upon the great works of Kristen Lepore on some forums and blogs lately. I love stop motion animations you know!

(And as usual I go a little bit crazy thinking of all the work behind the small masterpieces.. You can check out a quick making of for this film here :)

Christian Dior Spring 2010 Haute Couture

This Christian Dior couture collection could have stepped right off the set for an avant guarde costume drama (obviously if costumes dramas had budgets big enough to buy couture with)

Exaggerated eye make up, huge show-off jewels drippping off every part of the models bodies, massive trailing gowns and of course lots and lots of sequins were the main aspects of the collection just showing that you don't buy Dior couture to blend into the background.

It was all about the drama.
Oh and these shoes which I am in love with. The heels are so fairy-tale like:

Armani Privé Spring 2010 Haute Couture

Sleek and sculptural are two words which sum up the Armani Prive Couture Collection for Spring Summer 2010.

It was all about tailored fit dresses and skirt suits which were inspired by the moon. Little crescents popped up on suits and dresses and of course there were massive gowns imitating the glow of the moon itself on a midnight blue silk background.
These are my favourite looks from the collection:

Elie Saab Spring 2010 Haute Couture

Long flowing gowns + neutral tones + pastel shades + a handful of glitter for good measure= perfect red carpet dress.

These Elie Saab couture gowns just scream "Oscars Frocks" for me and I know that if I got the chance to wear a dream dress to a red carpet event that one in the photo above would be
the one.

They are practically perfect in everyway.

POLKA DOTS, TEXTILE CUPCAKES AND CELL PHONE PICS

A couple of days ago I took the train trough a beautifully white and shimmering winter landscape to Tampere to visit my friend and fellow burlesque gal Olivia Rouge. She is also aprofessional seamstress and I picked up two items tailored for me. Olivia's working space is for the moment situated on the small loft in Vaudevillle Boutique. She has recently developed her webshop so why not sheck it out. International orders have to be emailed separately though.

Skirt lining being cut out (and I'm not that impressed with my new mobile phone's camera).

Polka dot skirt developing!

Vaudeville Boutique has delicious muffin pin cushions and cream whip rings! (And I'm almost impressed by new mobile phone's camera now!)

"I don't believe in avant-garde clothes for a future that will never happen. Fashion is always now"- Karl Lagerfeld on the new Chanel Couture

Of course it goes without saying that the clothes were absolutely amazing but at the Chanel Paris Haute Couture Show 2010 entitled the "Neon Baroque Collection" but what really stood out for me was the beauty side and in particular the wonderful heart shaped hair.
I am in love with the over the top, sickly sweet styling which is part Barbie princess and part cartoonish Flintstones wigs.

Finally I wanted to share the details I read here on how much work is put into these Haute Couture Collections:
-500 people worked on the project.
-Certain dresses are adorned with 80 buttons and there were 13,000 satin flowers used in the collection.
-One cape took 800 hours of work and bearing in mind that 65 looks were sent down the runway it is a massive understatement to say that there is alot of time put into these clothes.

By golly I love Couture week.

SAILOR CHERRY, BURLESQUE KAHLO & BEACH PICNIC SHOOT

On Saturday we got up early and took the train to a studio out of town for a photoshoot.

Some of the "Sailor Cherry" props. My stuff, that is :)

Blushing the cheeks.

Lunch, shoes and such.

Hey ohoy! and on with the hat.

Set up.

Waiting.

Some more waiting...

Waiting for the ride home.

Giles invades the ceramics factory for his pre-fall collection

Giles Deacon always pulls out all the stops and this pre-fall collection was no exception, setting it in a porcelain factory with models posing in amongst an abundance of broken plates and floating cups and saucers.
Just when I thought he couldn't beat the crazy spider prints, giant sunglasses, bright colours, metallics (and not forgetting those dinosaur bags which blew my mind!) Giles brings along florescent wigs, mechanical style paper clip prints and simplistic shapes show to show his new aesthetics for autumn winter.

Hope everyone is having a fab Tuesday!

ATELIERI O.HAAPALA EXHIBITON

Most of you who read my blog should have become familiar with Atelieri Onyxei Haapala and their steampunk-y cabinet portraits by now. (Seen here, here and here.) Now you can see all the portraits taken during the project, over 800 pieces, exhibited at The Finnish Museum of Photography. The opening is on Tuesday night, the 26th!

If you're somewhere else and won't make you can view all of Onyxei's and Helmut's photos on the Atelieri O.Haapala Flickr page.

EARLY BIRD

There will be a pyjamas party over at Dotti's blog.

As I tend to sleep like Marilyn I'll just join in my morning kimono instead. And as much as I would've wanted to take it easy this morning and stay in bed all day long I had to get up early, pack a whole lot of stuff and head to a studio far out of town. But more on that tomorrow.

MY CUP OF TEA

It is of course a not that eco-conscious but a very welfare country habit to replace old, still well functioning items with new, prettier ones. Today I gladly took part of that habit when I finally found a electric kettle in my taste; a ceramic - porcelain! not plastic!- one that actually looks like a kettle should! (Or to be honest, I didn't find it myself, my boyfriend did. Now you have to keep on to a guy that know what kettles - and shoes- his girls wants, right? :)

The kettle is from Verkkokauppa and also comes in white. Me and my kitchen have some nice tea moments ahead of us now.

Chanel short film- Details of the Spring Summer 2010 collection

This beautiful video from Chanel shows the details of the Spring Summer 2010 collection. It is so well directed and set in the same barnyard setting as the collection was on the runway.
All of the models have this calm unnerving gaze which just stares right through you and the short film really gives you a chance to see up close the details of the clothes and how breathtaking this collection really was.

Watch it and play a game of ‘Spot The Famous Model.’
Haha its like ‘Who’s Who’ there are so many amazing models starring in it...

Adorable photos of cute kids in pretty clothes

Basically an image dump (as promised in my post with the photos of the kids in Burberry trench coats here) of photos of fashionable children too coo over.
I am in series need of cheering up.
I am home alone, ill and I need to revise for my mocks even though all I want to do is curl up in bed and watch another episode of Glee.
Anyhoo these cuties make me smile :)
Shot by The Sartorialist. And the one above is his daughter Claudia who you have to admit has an awesome pose going on.
Phillip Lims collection for children. I would have an even bigger smile than that girl if I was only 4 and still wearing designer clothes though.
Stella McCartney's kids collection for Gap. I love this ad campaign.
I saw these photos and seriously considered if I could fit into that little pink tutu the girl in the picture above is wearing.
Anyway hope you are all having a better Thursday than me, don't forget its Friday tomorrow!

WINNER

As you know my "All that was before 2010"-competition/giveaway ended last week. Thanks to all who participated, and thank you for all your ovely comments. I always appreciate every comment and all feedback I get on any post (except for those copy-paste-read-my-blog comments, spam and sneaky marketing of course :) and I do always pay a visit to everyone that leaves me a comment, even if I do not always have the time to comment back. The same goes for email I receive, sometimes it may take a very long time for me to answer, but one day I eventually will.

The winner will receive this lovely vintage mirror necklace. If you fancy it but weren't the lucky one this time, and if you're around Helsinki, there are a few more similar ones at Hoochie Mama Jane, from where I also got this one!

And our winner is....

...Prefecta!

Her favorite post was this one; a post I was rather happy with when made, even though I didn't know how to code the images larger back then:

Donate money here on the Red Cross Website- where I donated my babysitting cash- if you live in the UK.

MUERTOS AND MORE

I guess I shuould basically wait until Dia de los Muertos to post these but that would be a pretty long time to wait - I just love these pictures from 666 photography studio! But then again I, as mentioned before, love all of their work:

Spring Muertos

Summer Muertos

Fall Muertos

Winter Muertos

Which of the above do you like the best?
I'd love to get promo pictures done at 666 so if I ever visit that part of the world (Texas) I'll bring enough time and money to have them done for sure!

Anyway, I bet some of you are thinking that I've forgotten to announce the winner of my favourites give-away as time to enter ended on Friday?

That is of course not the case, I have drawn a winner already but just hadn't had the time to take proper photos; upon coming home on Friday evening I literally went straight from the airport to a photo shoot, Saturday went by in a hurry due to a performance the same night, yesterday was spent in bed the whole day having chocolate and reading a book with E. That was nice.
I'll announce the winner soon!
